The Gallery at Redlands is gearing up for a fabulous weekend October 27-28 in Palestine, TX! Join them as Fort Worth artist Tommy Thompson hosts a Gallery Talk in the Redlands Hotel Lobby Friday night at 7:00pm, and you can visit with Tommy again on Saturday 10:00am-4:00pm to view some of his available artwork as he spends the day in The Gallery at Redlands during the Hot Pepper Festival.
Tommy's rich New Orleans background is just as vivacious in his personal presence as in his colorful paintings. Now enjoying over fifty years as a full-time professional artist, Tommy began his art studies in college, then pursued a career in graphic arts. At age twenty-two he joined the French Quarter art colony in New Orleans. He was soon discovered by Ron Zappe, of Zapp’s Potato Chips, which led to an affiliation with Liberty Gallery on Royal Street for over thirty years. Since then, Tommy has enjoyed freelance adventures from his Fort Worth studio.
Tommy uses various mediums including oil paint, acrylics on canvas, board and watercolor paper, and pen & ink. His signature medium has been a hybrid watercolor using fine detailed ink-line with acrylic color wash. This allows a high development of detail and rich color pallet.
Tommy’s oeuvre comprises images of New Orleans and the Southwest populated by colorful characters and vintage buildings, steamboats, pirates, and saloon rogues.
He looks forward to sharing his experiences and answering your questions. Don't miss this opportunity for an evening of art and conversation with Tommy Thompson!
